We’ve been servicing you, New Zealand, for 60-years now and we’ll continue to lead Blackley Construction as a New Zealand owned and operated construction company from the heart of the Manawatū region. We’ve been involved in over 2,000 projects over the course of our time operating and will continue to deliver quality work for many more years to come.
We’ve backed our communities through improving infrastructure, providing greater access and keeping people connected. We’ve backed farmers and the environment through establishing farm infrastructure to manage waste and other by-products. We’ve also backed New Zealand’s future as a clean energy producer by assisting with the development of wind farms across New Zealand. From the Tararua’s in ’98, to Turitea today.
Our History
Graeme Blackley started contracting in 1960 with a David Brown tractor and a towed excavator doing farm drainage and mowing in the Wairarapa. Graeme and his wife Janice moved to Manawatu in 1965. In 1969 they shifted to Stoney Creek Road and established the company’s existing depot. Since those early days, the company has grown, developed, diversified and specialised. Kevin, Graeme’s eldest son, is now the Operations Manager and Managing Director. Graeme continues to pass on his valuable skills and knowledge working part-time as an assessor and trainer.
The Stoney Creek Road base is just a few kilometres north of Palmerston North. It is well located to service its rural and urban-based clients in the greater Manawatu, Central Hawkes’ Bay and the Wairarapa. We have also completed specialist projects as far south as Lumsden and as far north as Raglan.
WHO WE ARE NOW
We are Rural and Civil Construction Infrastructure specialists. We provide a wide range of services from Civil Pipe Laying, Farms Races, Underpasses, Dams, Water Schemes, Land Drainage and are specialists in direct cable and pipe laying systems. We provide innovative solutions to infrastructure construction challenges.
HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT
At Blackley Construction we conduct ourselves and our business with due care and in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations, particularly in respect of health and safety. A specialist Health and Safety Manager is employed to ensure that the company is an industry leader in this area.
Our health and safety and environmental management systems and procedures are audited and approved by ISNetworld to AS/NZS 4801:2001 and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems – Specification with guidance for use and AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 Occupational health and safety management systems – Requirements with guidance for use.
